P!nk Try
Try by Pink was another video I used for my inspiration because it also uses a similiar paint effect I wanted for my final music video. I liked the video because whenever one of the main actors in the video got hurt a paint splatter would come up on a part of their body, insinuiating an abusive relationship.

Ed Sheeran - Give Me Love (Effects + Inspiration)
The video for Ed Sheeran 'Give me Love' consists of a girl, who wants to be loved and end up turning into cupid/angel and 'shooting' people with arrows so that they fall in love with each other. I liked this video because you dont expect the story line to be what it is, because it starts of with the main character laying dead in an old warehouse like setting, and then a flashback which starts off with her lurking in a dark street corner. (My first impression of the video was that the girl had either gotten into a fight with her boyfriend and/or was a prostitute - which is the opposite of what it actually turns out to be). I wanted to take inspiration for this because I think the video has an obscure meaning and is unique compared to most music videos created for chart pop-star artists. You also don't expect the figure of cupid to be in the form of a young women who longs to be loved herself (at the end of the video, she ends up killing herself with her own arrow, but then comes back to life when her 'lover' approaches her.
Another thing I liked about the video was the visual effects. The video contained a lot of slow motion similar to the video 'We are Young' buy FUN, but also contained a lot of after effects. Each time an arrow hit the back of a 'human target' a large yellow sparkle (puff of air) exploded behind the back of the person when the arrow supposedly disintegrated. Another effect was when, at the start of the video, when the girl started to realise she was 'cupid', she pulled a bloody feather from out of her back, making it more realistic.
The spin on the video is that although the song portrays love and happiness, all of the video is filmed at night or in dark settings. This could show the main characters feelings of unhappiness, that although she gives love to other people, she isn't loved herself.

Behind the Scenes
Fun - We are Young
Because the video is off a bar fight in slow motion, the band had to record/perfrom the song at double speed to look like they are singing it normally (when the slow motion fight is going on around them). They also had to test out lots of different methods to see what worked best e.g throwing items through the air and smashing glass to see what effect it had in the final outcome. (e.g. in slow motion, simple bar food such as crisps flying through the air looked like broken glass flying through the air).
