Bryan Adams - Test Footage
While doing my test footage, I tested what it would look like to make the video in the background look slow motion, but to still make the lead singer look as if he/she is singing the song at normal speed. I chose the song 'Anything I Do', by Bryan Adams because it was slow and overall, it looks more effective at the end of the video (also, you would expect a video for a song like 'Anything I Do', to contain slow motion but in contrast, if you used slow motion in a video for Lady Gaga, it would look out of place). I had to speed up the song double speed on Adobe Premier Pro, play it, and then film the lead singer filming it at double speed with an audience dancing/jumping normally in the background. When you then slow it down, the fast singing and the song sounds normal, but the people in the background who were dancing at a normal speed now are slow. The overall effect, visually is very interesting and fits with the song. Also, because the song was sung at double speed, the people in the video had to express more emotion to make sure that what he/she was singing or doing was captured in the video, so when it is slowed down, you can see more emotion given from the lead singer. Although this idea would'nt be in keeping with my song (lead singer in slow motion), I liked the idea of making things seem slow in the background while the main character in the video is doing everything at a normal pace/speed.
Efterklang - I Was Playing Drums
When I was first researcing my ideas for a music video, I like the idea of focusing on one persons story in an interesting backdrop such as a wood, and came across the video 'I Was Playing Drums' by Efterklang. The video consists of a man walking through a woods full of multicoloured wires, and as the story progresses, they then begi to attack him. Because the song 'Weatherman, focuses on a love story that goes wrong, I like the idea because it's something similiar I could use for my video but using multicoloured paint, or another person following them. Another thing I liked about the video was the Camera angles and shots used, as it gave the video a 'hand-held' camera feel, as if there was someone actually following him at the time when it happened. Also, although the video has a storyline compared to Andrew Goodwins theory of music videos, there are no close ups or representations of the aritst, and the video has a very simple but effective feel.

Paint/Video Effects
When researching effects for my music video, I wanted to try out more techniques using the green screen, but with using a person and changing the background. Taking a piece of paper, I filmed myself painting and flicking green paper on the paper. I then scanned the footage onto the computer and put the footage into Adobe After Effects. Taking footage I had used in earlier projects, I as able to key in the film where the green paint had been splattered on the paper, so it looked like I was 'ficking' the footage onto the paper with a paintbrush, which overall looked very effective. I also liked the idea because it differed from a lot of music videos, and I couldn't find any one who had used a similiar idea.
